Quebec City man charged with possession of child porn

A 19-year-old man has been charged with possession of child pornography after his arrest in Quebec City on Tuesday.

The Sûreté du Québec said it began investigating Dave Thivierge in September 2010, when it received a tip from the public about his behaviour on social networks.

Police seized Thivierge's computer from his home and will analyze its content in the next few weeks.

"It's not impossible that he faces other charges in the future. It all depends on what investigators discover with the material we have now," said SQ spokesperson Ann Mathieu.

The SQ has a team dedicated to investigating the sexual exploitation of children on the Internet, in collaboration with the RCMP. Police urge citizens to report any information concerning the sexual exploitation of young people at www.cyberaide.ca.
